Abstract

This primary aim is to explore the relationship between childhood trauma and attachment style, with a focus on avoidant and anxious attachment of the in context to Indian population of 18 years to 30 years old. A sample size of 103 individual were taken and were administered on childhood trauma questionnaire and attachment style questionnaire- short form. Result indicated that emotional abuse was one the strongest predictor for anxious attachment (r = 0.419, p < 0.0001), emotional neglect and physical abuse were indicative of avoidant attachment style. Findings highlight the significant role of emotional trauma in development of attachment patterns. It also indicates the need for targeted intervention and early identification of the symptoms.
