Introduction: This research delves into the multifaceted role of the Indian Army as a catalyst for change in the realms of environmental justice and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Through a nuanced exploration of its initiatives, the paper elucidates the Army’s proactive stance towards environmental conservation, community development, and collaboration with corporate entities. It examines initiatives such as afforestation drives, waste management programs, and community outreach endeavors aimed at bolstering education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods, while also analyzing collaborative efforts with corporate partners to address pressing environmental and social challenges. Methodology: Employing a rigorous methodology encompassing comprehensive literature reviews, qualitative and quantitative data analyses, and case study examinations, this study meticulously examines the Indian Army’s endeavors in environmental sustainability and community welfare. Drawing from a diverse array of sources including scholarly journals, research papers, governmental reports, and firsthand accounts, the research presents a holistic understanding of the Army’s multifaceted engagements. Results: The findings of this research underscore the profound impact of the Indian Army’s initiatives on environmental preservation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable community development in conflict-affected regions. Through strategic collaborations with corporate entities, the Army has spearheaded CSR initiatives spanning disaster relief, healthcare, education, environmental conservation, and infrastructure development, significantly enhancing the well-being of local communities. Originality: This study contributes novel insights to the existing literature by offering a comprehensive analysis of the Indian Army’s transformative role in promoting environmental justice and CSR. By elucidating innovative projects and collaborative approaches, the research sheds light on the unique dynamics of military-led sustainability initiatives in conflict-affected contexts. Impact: The nuanced findings of this study have far-reaching implications for policy formulation, organizational practices, and scholarly discourse.
