The Impact of Exposure to Socio-Political Violence on Coping Styles among University Students

The present study aimed to study the Impact of Exposure to socio-political violence on coping styles among university students. To achieve this objective, a descriptive research design was used, with data collected from 300 university/ institutes students aged between 15 to 30 years. The participants were from Delhi University (N=91), IP University (N=75), DTU (N=44), and Delhi Police Training Centre (N=90) selected through purposive sampling. Data collection tools included the Exposure to Socio-Political Violence Checklist and the Coping Response Inventory (CRI-Adult Form). To analyses the data descriptive and inferential statistical analysis using ANOVA and Post Hoc were employed. The finding revealed significant differences among students with low, medium, and high exposure to socio-political violence. Specifically, logical analysis, acceptance and resignation, and emotional discharge coping styles showed significant variations, with differences observed at the 0.05 and 0.01 levels of significance. The study provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers to address the challenges faced by affected university students. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions to foster resilience and enhance coping mechanisms among students from vulnerable communities.Metrics
