A case study is a research methodology that is utilized to gain knowledge and study a topic in a systematic and in-depth manner. Case studies are often resorted to when there is a unique case, or a theory cannot be researched in a laboratory setting. Multiple case studies have been discovered and studied across the field of psychology. This paper aims to establish a thorough understanding of these well-established case studies and highlight the importance that they had on the development of the field of psychology by reviewing multiple sets of literature. With psychology being an interdisciplinary field of study, highlighting the importance and benefits of these case studies which can help bridge the gap and link different domains. In conclusion, case studies remain a highly critical part of research in psychology and have proved to further develop the knowledge in the domain of psychology since the very beginning and will continue to do so.Metrics
