This study aimed to study if social media usage has an impact on the self-esteem of adults. A total of 121 participants took part in the research. Participants ranged in age from 18 to 30. The research is a quantitative study that uses two questionnaires to attain information from the participants. The questionnaires were The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and Social Networking Addiction Scale. These results revealed that there was a negative relationship between the amount of time people spent on social media and their self-esteem level. Females spend more time on social media than males. Overall, the findings indicate that excessive social media usage may contribute to lower self-esteem among adults, potentially due to its association with addictive behaviours and internal conflict.Metrics
