The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 represents a significant milestone in the evolution of educational frameworks in India, aiming to transform the educational landscape with a holistic and flexible approach. Among its many facets, NEP 2020 places a strong emphasis on the development of social skills among students, recognizing the importance of these skills in navigating the complexities of modern society and the global workforce. This research article seeks to critically analyse how NEP 2020 impacts the development of these essential skills and explores the alignment and reinforcement provided by the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, which is designed to operationalize the vision laid out by the NEP. The development of social skills—such as communication, teamwork, empathy, and adaptability—is crucial not only for personal success but also for fostering societal cohesion and addressing global challenges. This article examines the provisions of NEP 2020 aimed at enhancing social skills, evaluates the anticipated effectiveness of these provisions, and discusses the role of NCF 2023 in further enhancing these outcomes. By providing a roadmap for the successful implementation of these policies, the article aims to contribute to ongoing discussions about educational reforms in India and their impact on student development.Metrics
