Perfectionism, Perceived Academic Stress and Social Support among the College Students of Bengaluru

This study aims to explore the relationship between perfectionism, perceived academic stress and social support among the college students of Bengaluru. A correlational research design was adopted and data was collected from a sample of 200 college students between the ages of 18-24 in Bengaluru. The tools used in this study are Frost Multidimensional perfectionism Scale (Frost, et al., 1990), perceived academic stress scale, Bedewy and Gabriel (2015) and Multidimensional scale of perceived social support (Zimet et al., 1988). The results of this study show that perfectionism, perceived academic stress and social support are significantly correlated. Significant associations are also found between parental expectations, friends support and perceived academic stress. The study also reported a significant gender difference in levels of perceived social support, females reported higher social support than males.Metrics
