Marital conflicts can have a significant impact on a child’s development. Research has shown that children from households with high levels of parental conflict experience negative outcomes in terms of their cognitive and socioemotional growth. Adolescents from these homes are more likely to develop psychopathological problems. The review article analyzed the causal association between spousal relationships and behavioral problems in children with the help of rigorous literature review, and found that marital conflicts can be one of the potential causes of conduct issues among children. However, environmental and child-related factors can temper the impact of the conflict. The review offers a comprehensive look at the outcomes of parental disputes on youngsters.Metrics
