An Empirical Study of Deprived Rural and Urban Adolescents and Its Impact on Machiavellian Behaviour: Focus On Maharashtra

Abstract

An empirical study was planned to see the effect of social, educational and economic deprivation of rural and urban adolescents and its impact on Machiavellian behavior. A sample of 500 school going boys and girls adolescent from 10th to 12th classes was drawn from four districts of Maharashtra namely, Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, and Gondia. As per my research plan, 388 boy and girl adolescents were finally selected from their furnished information. Therefore, boy and girl adolescents were distributed in four groups in view of rural and urban areas. The obtained scores on the Machiavellian scale were analyzed by applying ANOVA and   t-test to examine the significant differences among different groups of boys and girls adolescent from rural and urban areas. In my final analysis, the boy and girl adolescents of urban areas were more Machiavellian as compared to boy and girl adolescents of rural areas.
